Where does hike-to terrain access start at Telluride Ski Resort?
It starts at High Camp Warming Hut, at the top of Lift 12 (Prospect Express). The hut is the launching point for all Black Iron Bowl and Palmyra Peak hike-to terrain — the expert terrain above the lift-served boundary.
That makes this a small building with an outsized job. Everyone heading for the top of the mountain passes it, and almost everyone stops.
Before you hike
What should you do before hiking Palmyra Peak?
Eat, drink, and check the clock. High Camp Warming Hut is the last food and water between the lift and the summit, and the counter closes earlier in the afternoon than the lifts stop running.
Ride Lift 12 to the top
Prospect Express drops you at the hut.
Fuel up at the hut
Hot soup, sandwiches, hot cocoa. Cold water and packaged snacks for the pack.

Where do you go after skiing Palmyra Peak?
Most people end up back at High Camp Warming Hut. It is at the bottom of the run out and it is the closest place to sit down, get warm and get something hot before the next lap.
